As I moved ahead in life I met so many different types of people and realized that real heroes are very close to us but we just fail to recognize them. Apart from the iconic Swami Vivekananda, there are more people came in my life who has left their impression and motivated me. They are the real heroes whom I met and interacted. Their thoughts may not be quoted in books or their next door neighbour may not know them but in my mind they have made an iconic presence.

If I rewind ten years and go back to my post graduation days there was an unknown person whom I just met for an hour, left an impression, hence today I am writing about him. I went to a remote village of Tamilnadu for my post-graduation project. There was good college where I stayed for almost two months for my project. Though the college was good but it was far away (almost an hour journey) from locality and railway station. The mode of transportation is private buses. On the day of return I have lot of luggage and scheduled train time was 7.30 am. I had to start early morning 5.30 am to catch the bus. It was winter so you can understand the situation. I was alone standing in front of college gate and waiting for the bus. After waiting for 15 minutes , a bus came but did not stop at all. So I was tensed because I have a reservation in train. After 10-15 minutes another bus came totally packed up and people are standing on stair cases. So already I left the hope, then I saw the bus crossed be and stopped 100 meters ahead. A person got down from that crowd and calling me. I just ran with my luggage but there was no place to climb. As I did not know local language, with his gestures he said you get inside I will take care of your luggage. Somehow I got inside and that man standing on the last stair of the bus with my suitcase and bag. Finally, the bus reached at 7.10 am and I said thank you to the person and ran to catch the train as I had final semester exam after one day. I still feel I could not ask his name or could not spend time to know that real hero who was so kind and helped me to reach my destination on time without any expectations. From him I had learned little helping hand can make much difference in someone’e life.

Now this post would be incomplete I don’t tell about this person here. Yes I am talking about my friend Sandeep. I went to Goa with my first corporate dream job. It was a marketing job based in headquarter. I had just started learning new things and I was introduced with Sandeep. Not only interaction with field force, I had to prepare lots of promotional agendas as part of marketing. Sandeep was a graphic designer and every marketing person in our office used to sit and design their own promotional materials. As usual my turn came, I sat with him and told frankly I don’t know any ABCD of designing what instructions should I give it to you? He laughed and pointed towards the other marketing person and said “they also did not know any thing but they have learnt slowly. You try to visualize what you write and tell that to me I will design it because I do not know science I know only designing.” Yes, it worked, just after few weeks I started giving him instructions about designing. He used to say, you will become a writer one day, that time I used to laugh in my mind because there is no connection between a microbiologist and a writer!! After I left Goa, coincidentally I joined a job of a medical writer in Bangalore and from last 3 years I am the owner of this blog. Frankly speaking I enjoy writing than working in a wet lab as a microbiologist or in a corporate house as a marketing person. He was the real inspiration in my life and he could understand my capability in writing and helped me to flourish my ability. Because of him I dream of my career as a writer. But he is not there to read my write ups, I really miss your guidance and inspiration, Sandeep. Though you are not present in this eternal world, I believe you are alive in my writing. You were really #madeofgreat Sandeep who has helped to transform my life from a microbiologist to a writer.
