Drinks,

Lemon Tea / Nimbu Chai

June 18, 2016 Motions and Emotions 11 Comments

After the flavourful masala tea, I am going to share another flavourful tea -- Lemon tea or Nimbu chai. During my graduation days I used to visit my native once in a month. I used take local train from Howrah and reach to Burdwan in 2 to 21/2 hours time. In this journey train used to stop in more than 20 stations..

Lot of vendors used to sell different things. Most of them are food items and nimbu chai was one of the popular item. I used to like the aroma of the tea whenever the vendor of nimbu chai was around. I used to travel alone so never dare to have outside food or drink in the train. The vendor use to squeeze the lemon add sugar and some powder  from a box and pour the black tea on it and serve. The powder used to smell like black salt which I confirmed later. After my marriage when me and my husband travelling together in that local train and a nimbu chai vendor was selling tea. My husband had a cup of nimbu chai but again I avoided to have it (due to my fear of falling asleep and people snatching my belongings...) Later my husband prepared the lemon tea for me at home and I was totally bowled over the taste of Nimbu Chai...
