Aloo Matar Ki Sabzi / No Onion NO Garlic Aloo Matar

Aloo matar is a popular vegetarian side dish. I often prepare this as side dish of roti even it goes very well with jeera rice. Many people prepare this curry with onion and garlic however I have prepared no onion no garlic version, it tastes equally good. Normally, it is prepared with boiled potato but I had used parboiled potato. After peeling the potato you can cut them into cubes and boil them in water for 5 to 7 minutes to make them parboil. Now it is not the season of green peas hence I have used frozen peas.


Aloo Matar Ki Sabzi / No Onion NO Garlic Aloo Matar

Potato - 3 medium size, peeled and cut into cubes
Green Peas - 3/4 cup
Ginger - 1 inch, chopped
Tomato - 1 small size, sliced
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 teaspoon
Garam Masala Powder - 1 teaspoon
Coriander Powder - 1 teaspoon
Red Chilli Powder - 1 teaspoon
Salt to taste
Green Chilli - 2
Refined Oil - 2 tablespoon
Coriander leaves - few for garnishing


1. Parboil the potatoes (as mentioned above) and keep aside.  
2.  Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Next goes chopped ginger and green chilli.
3. Add parboiled potato cubes and add turmeric powder. Cook in medium flame.
4. After few minutes add green peas and stir well.
5. Next add red chilli powder and coriander powder and give a good stir. Add salt to taste and chopped tomato.
6. When tomatoes get cooked, add little water and boil it for sometime.
7. When the water almost dries up, add garam masala and chopped coriander leaves from top.
