Peas Paratha/ Matar ka Paratha/ Peas Stuffed Paratha

Peas Paratha is a healthy stuffed paratha. Green Peas are always my favourite, nowadays you get peas almost throughout the year either as fresh or frozen. However, I love the sweetness of the peas, that especially you get in the winter. In winter, mostly I prepare Peas Kachori, this time I tried Peas Paratha which is healthier than Kachori as it consumes less oil. You can make peas paratha anytime any season using either fresh peas or frozen once. 

 

Peas Paratha/ Matar ka Paratha/ Peas Stuffed Paratha
Ingredients

For Dough

Wheat Flour - 2 cups
Refined oil - 2 teaspoon
Salt to taste
Water

For Stuffing

Green Peas - 1.5 cups (Fresh or Frozen)
Ginger  - 1/2 inch, finely chopped

Green Chilli - 2 small, finely chopped
Chat Masala powder - 1/2 tsp
Coriander leaves - 2 tsp finely chopped (Optional)

Cumin Seeds - 1 teaspoon
Turmeric Powder - 1/2 teaspoon
Red chilli powder - 1/2 teaspoon
Salt to taste
Ghee / Oil - to toast


Procedure

In a bowl add wheat flour, salt and refined oil and make a soft dough using required water. Cover the dough with a damp cloth for half an hour.

Now boil green peas, once they are cool make a coarse paste using grinder.  Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. When they starts crackling add chopped ginger and green chilli. Next add coarse pea paste and followed by add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, chat masala, salt. Mix them oil and allow it to cool. Now make equal size balls from the dough and stuff them with peas stuffing. Roll the balls using rolling pin and prepare round shaped parathas. Heat skillet and fry the parathas using ghee or refined oil. Serve hot with pickle or any other side dish.
