Masoor Dal r Bora r Jhal or Red Lentil Fritters Curry is an authentic Bengali dish. If some day you feel that you don't want to eat vegetables, at the same time you want to eat something tasty and healthy. You can prepare this dish. Or suppose you do not have any vegetables or meat in your fridge, you can prepare masoor dal r bora r jhal. You can also munch the red lentil fritters with your evening tea. Or may be some red lentils left over in your kitchen for long time, you can use it for making these tasty fritters or curry. Sharing the recipe for you.


Masoor Dal r Bora r Jhal / Red Lentil Fritter's Curry / Red Lentil Fritters in Mustard Sauce

Ingredients

For Red Lentil Fritters (Musur Dal r Bora)

Masoor / Musur dal (Red Lentil) - 1 cup,soaked in water for 3-4 hours
Salt to taste
Mustard oil for frying

For Curry

Potato - 1 cup, cut in small cubes
Nigella Seeds - 1 teaspoon
Tomato - 1/2 cup finely chopped
Mustard Paste - 2 teaspoon
Turmeric Powder - 1 teaspoon
Cumin Powder - 1 teaspoon
Salt to taste
Green Chilli


Procedure

Soak masoor dal for 3 to 4 hours. Then make a smooth paste using grinder. Do not add too much water while grinding. Consistency of the paste should be thick in nature. Now add salt to this paste and beat well. Heat oil in a pan preferably mustard oil and drop one one spoon batter to make dumplings. Deep fry them and Masoor Dal fritters or Musur Daler Bora is ready to eat. You can eat them as it is or you can make a yummy curry using them.


Now for curry heat oil in a pan and add nigella seeds. Then add potato cubes and fry them well in medium flame with covering it. Add turmeric powder and stir it. Next add cumin powder, salt, sugar, green chilli and tomato. Cook until tomatoes are soft. Next add  little water and bring it to boil. Add the lentil fritters into the curry and then add mustard paste. When water dries up, switch off gas and add fresh coriander leaves.
