Soya Roti Roll

Soya Roti Roll is a healthy meal for kids. In my last post I shared the recipe of Grilled Chicken with rice and assorted veggies. This was a complete meal and non-vegetarian people will enjoy this meal. My readers like this meal very much. Many of my readers are vegetarian so now it's time to make them happy as well. When I posted grilled chicken platter I already decided to prepare a complete meal for the vegetarian people.

Just like grilled chicken platter, this soya roti roll has the portion of protein, carbs and vitamins and minerals. Soyachunks are very good source of plant-based protein. Vegetarian population can include soya in their diet to fulfill their protein requirements. I have observed kids love soya chunks because of its soft and spongy texture.

Addition of bell peppers in the roll gives a crunchy effect to the roll. Instead off tomato ketchup you can also use mustard sauce or mayonnaise to bring variation in the taste. I did not added green chilli as kids do not prefer it to be spicy. This could be a good meal for adult as well.

Soya Roti Roll

Ingredients
Soyabean  chunks - 1 cup
Yellow Bell Pepper - sliced, 1/2 cup
Red Bell Pepper - sliced, 1/2 cup
Capsicum - sliced, 1/2 cup

Black Pepper Powder - 1/2 teaspoon
Salt to taste
Tomato Ketchup - 2 tablespoon
Black Salt - 1 teaspoon
Refined Oil - 2 tablespoon + 1 tablespoon for wheat flour dough

Procedure

1. Take whole wheat flour, little salt and 1 tablespoon oil in a bowl and knead a smooth dough. Keep the dough aside for half an hour.
2. Now boil the soyabean chunks until they are tender. It takes 7 to 8 minutes time.
3. Later wash them under flowing water and drain the excess water by squeezing the chunks.
4. Heat oil in a pan and add the soya chunks and stir them.
5. Add salt and garam masala powder and stir them for few minutes. Keep them aside.

Masala corn is a quick and easy snack recipe. It is a kid friendly recipe which is very healthy too. This is a very popular snack we often get it in the food court of every mall. Sweet corn is a gluten free cereal which is good for the individuals who are restricted for gluten.  Corns are good source of vitamins especially B-complex group.

One step will be extra when you have a cob instead of separated kernels.
Take the cob and make two to three pieces and whistle them in pressure cooker. Now take them out once they are cool. Fruity Sandwich

Tomorrow is 14th November 'Children's Day' and I am sharing a kid's friendly sandwich recipe which is healthy indeed. It is really difficult to feed fruits to kids, however this fruity sandwich can solve this problem easily. Not only kids, this is a healthy breakfast option for adults also. We often don't find time to eat fruits which is quite important. Try to make fruity sandwich which is filling and has the goodness of various fruits at a time. This is my husband's recipe :). I think you have bread slices in your kitchen and few fruits in fruit basket. So what are you waiting for!! Make it and share your experience with me..

Fruity Sandwich

Bread slices - 8
Papaya - small pieces, 1 cup
Banana - round pieces, 1 cup
Pomegranate - 1/2 cup
Dates - deseeded & chopped, 1/2 cup
Chaat masala - 1 teaspoon
Black Salt - 1 teaspoon
Mixed Fruit Jam - 1/2 cup
Butter - 2 tablespoon

Procedure
1. Apply butter at one side of bread and apply jam on the other side of the bread.

2. Now keep the butter side down and jam side up. Place papaya pieces(5 to 6) on jam side. Next place banana pieces and finally add pomegranate & date pieces.

3. Sprinkle black salt and chaat masala on the fruits.

Bread Rolls with Stuffed Potato

Bread rolls I had first time in my college life. One of my hostel mate prepared and we all relished it. That time I had very limited knowledge about cooking. Since I am in this virtual world of blogging I saw many of my co-bloggers posted this recipe which reminded me the yummy taste of it. So bread rolls were is my to-do list for quite long time. Finally, I prepared it and I would suggest everyone should try this out. You might think what is so special about this simple bread rolls. Let me tell you, it has the magic on its outer coating which is made of bread. The outer coating of bread gives it a crispy yet light feeling. This time I had done potato stuffing, I have a plan of making paneer bread rolls, soya bread rolls even chicken bread rolls. You can stuff anything of your choice. Sharing the recipe of Bread Roll with Stuffed Potato.

Bread Rolls with Stuffed Potato
Ingredients (4 to 6 numbers)

For stuffing

Potato - boiled, 3 medium size
Onion - chopped, 1 medium size
Green peas - 1/2 cup
Salt to taste
Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon
Roasted cumin powder - 11/2 teaspoon
Tomato ketchup - 2 teaspoon
Sugar - 1 teaspoon
Black pepper powder - 1 teaspoon
Kitchen king masala - 1/2 teaspoon

For Rolls

White bread - 4 to 6 nos
Refine oil for frying

Procedure

Mash the boiled potato and keep aside. Now heat oil in a pan and add onions for frying. After 3 to 4 minutes add green peas, turmeric powder, roasted cumin powder, black pepper powder, kitchen king masala, sugar, salt. Mix them well and add mashed potato. Mix all the spices together with mashed potato and add tomato ketchup. If required add little water, and when the mixture becomes dry switch off the gas and allow it for cooling. In the mean time, remove the brown crust of bread from all four sides. Now take water in a bowl and dip the bread in water  lightly and gently. Immediately remove it and squeeze out the water by keeping it one palm and pressing with other palm. After that place a spoon full of stuffing at the middle of the bread and roll it using your hands and keep it on a plate. Do not forget to join all the edges, otherwise the stuffing will come out while frying. Allow the bread to absorb water however it should not absorb too much water. Likewise make the other bread rolls. Keep them in a plate for half an hour. After that, deep fry the bread rolls and serve with sauce.
