Suji r Halwa/ Rava Halwa/Semolina Pudding

Suji r Halwa/ Rava Halwa/Semolina Pudding

Suji Halwa /Sooji Halwa/ Rava Halwa is famous sweet dish. This dish is prepared in almost all the auspicious occasions such as puja, marriage, birthday and also offered as prasadam. Sooji halwa is also good food for toddler or preschooler.

Today was Rama Navami, an auspicious festival celebrated in our country every year. Rama Navami symbolizes the birth of Lord Rama which falls on the ninth day of the waxing moon in the month of Chaitra. To celebrate this auspicious occasion I have made this simple yet tasty sweet dish Suji r Halwa / Rava Halwa / Semolina Pudding.

Suji r Halwa/ Rava Halwa/Semolina Pudding

Semolina (Suji) - 1 cup
Sugar - 3/4 to 1 cup
Ghee - 2 -3 tablespoon
Cashew - 10 to 12
Cardamom - 1

1. Heat ghee in a wok. Add semolina, cashew nuts and  stir it well until it becomes brown. This process may take 8 to 10 minutes.
2. Mean while in another pan add sugar and 2 cup water and make sugar syrup.  Add 1 cardamom when the syrup is boiling.
3. Now add the prepared syrup in the roasted semolina and allow it boil.
4. When the syrup dries up and consistency becomes thick, you can grease a mould and transfer halwa in the mould or else you can grease a plate and spread the halwa on it. Once it is cooled down cut into pieces and serve it or tap the mould and take out from it and serve.
